Do you want to buy my copy? I bought it on launch and haven't touched it since the first day.

puyo puyo tetris is nothing earth-shattering, but it's an ideal handheld game and perfect if you're looking for something with local multiplayer. swap mode is tons of fun.

Fer how much? I was mostly thinking about getting it digital because I felt like it'd be one of those games I'd just like to pick up when the mood struck without having to switch carts, but I coullllld be interested

I'm a sucker for these nintendo arcade releases on switch.
I already have VS SMB and PunchOut and I've played them way more than i thought i would.

Playing punchout in tate mode is one of the greatest things.

Also I cannot wait for Sky Skipper

Never played Sky Skipper, looks fantastic.

Donkey Kong Arcade on Switch is hot stuff, takes me right back to playing it in the arcade as a little shaver in the ‘80s.

It's very heavy on story but it's pretty good overall. Nice aesthetic.

$8 for DK is fine if it is arcade perfect (is it?). Lord knows how much I’ve spent on it at the local barcade
Note: mildly comedic.

a night in the woods is more of an interactive story than a game. that being said, it's a very good story and you end up caring for the characters.

I think the problem with Hollow Knight for me (and it's just by looking at it) is that there's been a lot of metroidvanias lately, there's been a lot of games with that art design lately (not the setting, I mean the style of drawing), there's a lot of samey colors, and then the setting doesn't look super developed. Just sort of some stuff

It could be and probably is a fine game but when I've played 20 metroidvanias it seems like a pretty normal sell for a game

Mario + Rabbids is worth $30 right?

(I do remember liking xcom a few years ago, figure the Mario land aesthetic is fine)

Petty I'd be very genuinely interested in a list of the metroidvanias you've played and how you'd rank them, as I am (still) in the process of playing every indie metroidvania ever. Just as a comparison point and to see if there's any ones I've overlooked.

As for Hollow Knight I guess there are dissenting opinions here but I'd still absolutely put it near the very top of the indievanias. The setting is the most developed of pretty much any indievania and is one of the most praiseworthy things about the game. It's a very atmospheric, thought-out, and charming world and I feel like you would enjoy this if you're in the mood for a 'vania (though, I understand if you're burnt out on them, there are a ton nowadays)

Probably missing some:
Metroid
Super Metroid
Axiom Verge
Addam's Family on Genesis
Castlevania Symphony of the Night (and Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, Order of Ecclasia, Portrait of Ruin)
Momodora 1,2,3
Knytt Underground (May not count?)
Castle in the Darkness
Curse of the Crescent Isle DX
Cave Story
Environmental Station Alpha
Steamworld Dig 1&2
Odallus: The Dark Call
VVVVVV
Wonderboy in Monster land
La Mulana Ex
Rogue Legacy
Guacamelee (Despite being decent,I think this was the first one where i was like "Okay, just being a metroidvania doesn't mean I need to play it)
A Valley Without Wind (tbf, I didn't like this one)

My favorites (aside from the obvious Super Metroid and SOTN) are:

Axiom Verge
Momodora series
Castle in the Darkness
Cave Story
Steamworld Dig 2
La Mulana Ex
