agree that this is a particularly good Moma, which I hadn't really taken to yet.

Particularly like the muted fret jam.

which is cool because it's like the easiest and most fun thing to do on the guitar, and I put it in like every song I did before I was good at guitar, but damnit if it isn't perfect here.

also a lot of August 2004... Hampton Set 1, Great Woods N1 Birds of a Feather is incredible, the AC/DC Bag, Mike's Groove, and Hood are all very good, Great Woods N2 has a great DWD, good playing, and totally unique set construction throughout, and Camden has a pretty top tier jam for me in the Scents and Subtle Sounds and is otherwise good all around.

Nothing in August sounded good at the time. It’s sad bc I do know there are highlights, Im just not able to hear it objectively to this day. Weird weird times.

I think in retrospect it was that Hampton Bowie encore that buried me. It got so dark. All I remember was typing in my flip phone during it “Tyrannasaurus Bowie.”

Then I just went through the motions the rest of the week in a daze. I remember at my last show (what I thought was my last show) at Camden, they open with Wilson. On the 2nd or 3rd Duh-Duh it struck me so clearly. I have no idea why but I was DONE. Walked out, said goodbye to the 04 crew, and bailed on my Coventry tickets.

the lord smote Grateful Dead fans for allowing John Mayer to play his honkey blues in Camden.

(they only played a set and a few songs due to lightning on Saturday)

Man, the Sunday Morning from the Baker’s Dozen makes me SO happy :)

Waking up hungover in Brooklyn with my sister and my best friends.. my parents strolled over with eggs and bacon, and we all ate this leisurely brunch with bloodies, talking about what Red Velvet would bring.. I said Sunday Morning, my old man said Sweet Jane, and luckily we were both right!

We passed the day by taking the ferry to walk the Brooklyn bridge, stopping for a pint when our legs were ready for it, and taken by the excitement of the weekend, my parents decided to go to the show with me.. we had a wonderful spot in 113 right up close with the perfect view of Fish... my dad noted “Mike and Jon really are the ones steering the boat, eh?” while my mom opined that the applause going into the jam of It’s Ice was “because that song was finally over”

Enough time has gone by that im comfortable saying in several different ways that [i think] the Baker’s Dozen was truly the best tour since summer 98... it’s the one I’d want to see the entirety of if I could, it’s the one I’m fondest of emotionally, and I think the quality makes it worthy of consideration alongside Summer 03 and December 99, both of which I’m a HUGE fan of..

:D unbelievable weeks. Even the shows I didn't go to I would pass by the small group of campers every morning on 8th Ave on the way to work. As a NYC resident it just folded itself into every part of day to day life.

That Velvet Sunday was a great day indeed, I should know because I was awake for all 24 hours give or take a few minutes.

That first BD weekend was so much fun and yet musically it's probably the least great of the five weekends from Chicago to Dicks. If that's the baseline level of quality then it's an all timer tour for sure.

Fall 13, Summer 15, and Summer 17 are all on fairly equal footing as the best of 3.0 IMO.
