Awesome, I've been looking forward to this release! Does is feel pretty complete as early access or is it better to wait a few releases?

there's some bugs for sure (get crash to desktop sometimes) but it's just really immersive and awesome and time sucking. Oddly enough the "submarine in space" feel to this really does make you feel isolated and like you're just some pilot trying to break even. Devs say 2/3rds of the content is done today, a few months til feature complete with sandbox, multiplayer and new scenarios to come.

It definitely FEELS good and complete. There's some stuff you can tell is walled off cuz it's not done on the dev side. A lot of the space stations you dock on have bars and stores where the entrances don't work yet. And there are really some random CTD bugs, but as far as literally just getting in a ship, taking passengers to destinations, picking up cargo, bounties, upgrading your ship, maneuvering against dickhead pirates etc you can do that now and it RULES. This better not be slept on, it's a fucking gem.

yeah the most interesting part of this is definitely the 'submarine in space' angle. Also I'm really anti-social when it comes to gaming so the fact that this is single-player is great, and that the galaxy doesn't seem totally empty despite that is cool. Probably gonna get it this week! Little :? about the forced 3-month time limit which seems insanely short to me? but really I just wanna hide in some asteroid fields to get my illegal cargo safely to the next space station and get $$$

hello!

also been back on vermintide 2 and i'm level 30 with sienna but am hesitant to go past veteran as i still die now and then. occasionally wrecking groups of elites, shotgunning crowds & doing tons of damage vs bosses is awesome but i think i might try a tanky class next time.

anyway @g_s i found another deckbuilder from tabletop on android called xenoshyft but it looks fairly ghetto

This article about the original Star Control developers asking to crowdfund their legal battle really rubs me the wrong way:
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/0 ... al-battle/

I get why the battle is important but I don't get why the public needs to be asked to fund it

Tbh in a gaming culture where fucking idiots tip twitch players for god knows what reason, contributing to this stupid cause is not that offensive to me

Objects in Space, can confirm 10/10. I haven't even run into any battles yet but shuttling station to station and trying to figure out how the hell your ship operates is a blast. The fact that basically everything you do is on an 80s era monitor really sells it for me. So far I've mostly done basic contracts and a couple passenger ferries, but pushing organs across systems and getting involved in some low level drug smuggling has been a pretty lucrative side business.

nocturne's always been a tough champ i think, being so farm-dependent while also having one of the most lane ganky abilities in the game makes early decisions tough and he has a real tough time in late game teamfights, you just kinda have to accept that the best you're hoping for is a 1 for 1 on whichever enemy carry you choose to ult

Syndicate was the one most special to me. Loved this game then. Aged poorly now in good part because there is nothing new about the ability to gun down random pedestrians and improvising assassinations. There's all the gta's in the world for the first and hitman if nothing else for the second. I tried to play Satellite Reign when it came out and realised sure it was ok but....the gameplay didn't interest me anymore. Still very special at the time. And a damn shame all EA thought of doing with this IP since was a FPS. I realise it would be losing the RTS/action strategy feel of the first but i wouldn't be against someone trying some x-com type thing with the IP

But yeah good memories of trying to come up with the coolest possible assassinations. I remember on that had a motorcade and all i did was cross the street right before it came and dropped a remote mine. I also remember a politician speaking in front of a crowd on top of some steps and I got a car and went old fashioned drive by machine gun assassination. And then there's the mission where they wanted you to kill the wife of some exec to remind them to stay in line and i thought the most horrifying thing would be to find their wife burned to a crisp when they got home so i did her with a flamethrower. :| hey listen i've never shot up a school ok?
