Upon rewatching, it's pretty weird that they switched up the simultaneous apology between Bigfoot and Doc to be about Bigfoot planting the heroin on Doc. It really doesn't make sense in that context.

It also really sucka that they left out the Vegas portion of the book, but I suppose that would have been incredibly expensive to shoot.

I was so incredibly stoked to watch this after reading the book and really felt this fell majorly flat.

Super bummed. I wanted to love it but just feel disappointed. Cut out many of the best parts and the pacing was very bad. Like the fun of the book is that it's a foggy mess that reveals itself. This was literally introduce thing A, thing A is explained/solved in the next scene. Too many characters/plots were introduced for no reason other than the actor they signed on.

My expectations may have been too high, I dunno. It looked great and was fun at least.

just little things in Joaquin's performance blow my mind like early in the movie when he says to Shasta "oh yeah I think I’ve heard this one once or twice..."

I've seen this movie twice and I was drunk as hell both times. So much fun. I keep meaning to do a sober rewatch but tbh I'm not sure I'd have much more of an idea what's going on

I guess the new PTA/DDL is not just about the fashion designer but about said designer's gay BDSM tendencies

Should be a nice time at the movies! :)

One of the reviews I read for Phantom Thread was praising how it was a return to form (after praising The Master earlier in the article, so obviously a dig at IV). Feel real sorry for anyone that doesn't enjoy the hell out of this movie.

man, i dunno. i tried watching it a second time and still think it is terrible. i also thought the master was way overrated. punch drunk love was shit. but i love everything else. twbb is a top 10 film ever made. daniel day lewis is my favorite actor ever. i'm so hard for him in last of the mohicans and gangs of new york. i have not seen phantom thread yet and am very afraid to watch it.

In a sense Phantom Thread was very much about a gay-seeming British fashion designer's dom/subby relationship w/ somebody so!

I'll break it down:

man, i dunno.

you do know, that's why you posted these opinions

i tried watching it a second time and still think it is terrible.

it's amazing

i also thought the master was way overrated.

the master rules

punch drunk love was shit.

punch drunk love is great

but i love everything else.

the only other good one is boogie nights

twbb is a top 10 film ever made.

twbb blows so bad. it is a Serious Movie for infants

daniel day lewis is my favorite actor ever.

he's an okay actor, no better than any other actor

i'm so hard for him in last of the mohicans and gangs of new york.

these movies are just passable and he doesn't really help either

i have not seen phantom thread yet and am very afraid to watch it.
