This roommate that's only there a few days a week brings up the level of sociality and energy and cleaning stuff
But chillness levels plummet

Second week in a row where my downstairs roommate has had people over on a weekend. They destroy the place and leave spilled beer cans and wine bottles and dishes everywhere, empty McDonald's wrappers and bags and half-eaten burgers all over the kitchen and living room. Dried urine on the floor of the upstairs bathroom (which belongs to me). He ignores my texts asking him to clean up his mess and then he leaves for the week.

this isn't really a gripe or anything but it seems one of my roommates uses used toilet paper in the waste bin to wipe his ass. there's just a growing collection of shit streaks on the toilet paper that was there. the most impressive thing is i threw out the empty cardboard roll from one of my own rolls, and i come back and it's ripped up with shit stains on both sides. that's fairly impressive.

People's toilet etiquette is truly despair-inducing. The last few roommates I've had have all failed to flush after dropping a deuce, leaving me to discover and flush their turds myself. Like..how are you an adult who doesn't remember to flush the toilet

I don't know if it's my roommate or one of his friends but I've been finding a sticky patch of dried urine surrounding the base of the toilet almost every weekend. It got stuck to my sock and nearly pulled it off my foot.

my roommate leaves all the lights on in the house all day before he goes to work

i try to switch them off if i leave after him, but he sometimes complains to me if he gets home and the lights are off

i guess he thinks his cat gets sad if the lights aren't on. even though cats can basically see in the dark and prefer it as far as I know, and plus he has a spot in the kitchen where he goes and sun bathes

the guy is just a fucking idiot. i hate his laugh, his face, even his name GREG sucks

I figure that if you're forgetting to flush you're likely also forgetting to wash your hands.

why don't you just ask him to pay more of the electric bill then? "that's fine if your cat wants the lights on during the day, but that means you specifically are using more electricity than me/the rest of us (idk how many other people you live with) and the split should be adjusted accordingly".

because how do you determine the 'new' proportion? sounds tedious.

i had a mental image of taking a giant dump, pulling up my pants and walking directly out of my bathroom and i can't even fathom this.

i admit that i've almost forgotten to flush before usually when someone yells for me or i hear my kid screaming. i'll go to wash my hands real quick and look over to see that i didn't flush, but that's rare. i always look over to see how i left the toilet situation.

Yeah I think this is true. Each time it's happened it was soon after a roommate moved in, like they were signaling to me that even if i might've lived there first, I didn't hold the power in the roommate dynamic

if anything it's because you ARE washing your hands. You just wiped your ass and now your gonna touch the handle on the toilet? So you turn the faucet on, you wash your hands, great your hands are clean and now you're gonna turn off the faucet that you just touched with your dirty hands? Nah fuck that, toss the whole bathroom away.

(kilowatt hour cost * (number of bulbs * wattage of bulbs)) * hours the lights are left on = cost per day of the bulbs
