I haven't but a friend of mine has been doing that as his main gig for a while now. I'll try to find the name of the company.

Are there any boarders working in private schools that could put me in touch with the admin?

I would like to set up summer study abroad programs for Chinese students but have been having trouble getting in touch at the few places I tried contacting in my home town.

Not limited to the US, the UK, Australia, or Canada would definitely be workable too.

Digital Publishing AG is the company with their platform: https://www.speexx.com/home/

I don't know anything about them or the process but my friend is still working with them so seems to be going well.

I'm teaching a summer writing camp for middle schoolers... It's on interactive fiction :geek:

We're using Twine and it's going SO WELL. I'm spending my evening trying to figure out how to do RNG encounters using JavaScript... But you can also keep it very basic.

If any of my fellow English teachers are lucky enough to teach a creative writing class I'd highly recommend it. I could give more info/examples if you PM.

The online teaching esl thing is kind of annoying. There is an online interview w a mock lesson then two more mock lessons. The pay is good but it’s kind of an annoying process

Hmm. I think a lot of them have read of mice and men. It seems like a few may read hous on mango street too based on random teachers websites of the high school the kids are coming from.

No,I guess I don’t have to either. Any suggestions on short stories? I’d really like to do stories from people of color or women etc.

I like eleven. I use it with my sixth graders but I think it’d work w hs students too. I think I’ll use short stories to launch into mango street. I was also thinking Fahrenheit 451 but it’s super long.

Think I’m gonna do short stories + some vignettes from mango street. I’m gknna have a real small group which is great. Debates seem like a good idea in summer enchriment type stuff. What else could be good for groups?

Dr. Norm Thagard wrote:If you do my name, a great thing for them to do is research their name. They could each do a small presentation about what it means to other people and what it means to them.

I'm also a huge fan of giving mini research projects and having groups present out and assess their peers on their learning.

You could also do an annotation lesson and have them color code a copy of the text.

Another thing is having each group create a quiz for kbe section. They have to grade them too.

Skits are always fun - for example - change the ending or change the genders or change the setting/era

Also, you can have them create sound tracks for the text and defend their choices

All good ideas. I might steal an idea from my sixth grade and have them rewirite eleven from the perspectives of the other kids or the teacher. Definitely doing research since they will have computer access

Hell yeah! I’m finally joining the ranks of public school teachers after 10 years in private schools. Teaching Debate (of course) and Legal Studies, both of which I’m pumped about.

My new coteacher, whom I haven't met in person, is on a safari and texted me pictures of elephant families today. Coteacher #356 is off to a great start!
