i think the gloaming is ok, and i'll take it over how to disappear, bloom, spectre, daydreaming, desert island disk, the numbers, and the overplayed EIIRP and idioteque

A couple years ago the Gloaming was fun as hell live and I looked forward to it. it'd be all quiet and then LOUD and jazzy when Thom dances and then quiet again. This time the difference was way less prounounced, it was all one tempo and volume more or less. It sucks

The lighting during it is very cool. It's a nice creepy mood piece

the gloaming live is pretty fun. the breakdown section with the new bassline and thom dancing are cool. musically it's not one of their best or anything, but the lyrics are very ~relevant~ to our political predicaments so i'm sure thom gets something out of that part of it

i've heard this live a few times but something about it on wednesday night really got me:

when the lights flash on (at the 2:26 mark) sent like a wave of emotion through the crowd that was pretty incredible

i dunno, i always enjoy the gloaming. it fit in nicely with the other groove-heavy songs in the wednesday main set

thom loves doing his dancing bit, colin is flying around on the bass, lights are going wild. i mean come on, it's a pretty good time

same, i think juxtaposed with their technical and challenging songs surrounding it really stands out now.

i was also surprised by how much Lotus Flower pounds live. i saw it on the TKOL tour, but they really turned the fucking bass up on this tour. it was rattling my teeth.

i'm enjoying reading people's msg stories but i'm starting to get jealous of everyone with ga tickets. i have pretty decent seats for philly night 1, but...they're still seats and i'd prefer to be on the floor to see the head. oh well.........

wish i had GA tix obvs but it was pretty astounding seeing the whole venue lit up when the lights hit in fake plastic trees. really wonderful crowd, band was feeding off it

confirmed all my worst fears that radiohead brings it for tier 1 cities and festivals and go on autopilot for lesser tour stops. i'd never seen them this engaged and eager to please

of the 11 times i've seen them, wednesday night was the happiest and most engaged thom has ever been (and the crowd was also top notch)

yeah he was downright giddy on the tour opener. I think they all know this is their last stretch of a 3 year album tour and they'll take a long, long hiatus after this so they're just enjoying the end of it.

i was a little worried about this too. i caught them at bonnaroo and that was definitely the most energetic i've seen them. i'm hoping they'll bring it for philly...

also good to hear the show still ruled in the seats! :)
