the most interesting thing in there is that Rohrabacher isn't even bothering to raise any money.

Apologies if this is super-redundant or something -- but do any of y'all have good articles/sources breaking down how the ideological/factional conflicts within the Dems are playing out? I don't really understand what kind of power the different PACs and the DCCC and stuff have, or how those conflicts are going down (besides the stuff I've seen in this thread and elsewhere about the DCCC recruiting more centrist candidates to run against progressives)

don't know much about this poll but it would be HILARIOUS if the senate stays one seat out of reach because dems couldn't find someone to primary this knobjob

disheartening for sure, but i remain hopeful that she genuinely is interested in learning more about the situation and hedged simply out of self preservation, and moreover that her political compass will guide her to a position that we'll all be pretty happy with. i'm seeing her speak tonight (with ada colau!) so have a feeling she might get a question about this... will report back.

oh man that's lovely. i'm about an hour east of you. slightly blue town, darkest of the dark red surrounding unincorporated areas. plenty of dire shit.

ok so she did get a question about the distinction between being an 'activist' and a 'candidate' on the issue of israeli occupation and basically gave a softball non-answer answer that amounted to "i look forward to engaging on this issue and am speaking with activists now about the particulars." really the only point in the night where she looked uneasy on stage. sorta surprised she and her team hadn't cooked up something more convincing.

Its a good lesson that once you become a candidate you have to be completely deferent to Israel dsa or not.

this is what happens when you get your candidate elected. they have to cater to all kinds of people and make compromises, or they even make mistakes. I hope no one wastes their time parsing her purity-- sure we should correct that shit, but the basic solution is to get many more like her elected.

(not saying anything about your response, barthes, just worried that ppl will turn AOC before she's even elected)

we are not that far from Republicans simply owning Russian assistance and saying that they understand American values better than Democrats

it seems fanciful to expect them to do anything else

I don't know if this would go well for a party that relies on bigoted boomers
